The world of craftsmanship, of handmade things, of creating something out of nothing from an idea, from an inspiration, fascinates me to no end. I personally have a lot of admiration for those who have this gift of craftsmanship by nature, and also in abundance.
Handcrafted objects appeal to me, and when they tell a story about an area, mine becomes true love!
Thus began my exciting journey among products, artisans and artists of the Lario, and I started from deComm!

What is deComm
DeComm was a little store in the historic center of Como, which has now become an online store, where the storytelling of the lake is done in a delightful and delicate way, through Maddalena’s dexterity and creativity and the items she creates.
Her story is fascinating: Maddalena, a designer by talent and training (diploma at the Silk Factory), searches for her own way; her mother, a physical education teacher, gives her the right idea, spurs her on and encourages her; her grandmother, an inspirational muse, evokes images of the lake in her and provides her with books from which to take inspiration for subjects; Paola, her aunt, teaches her how to paint ceramics and Elena, a friend, helps her in defining the designs.
And what can happen if five women get their act together and join forces? Only something incredible: they realize a dream!
Craft and design products that tell the story of Lake Como
Maddalena’s world is made up of mugs, glasses, T-shirts, postcards and many other objects for the home and for the table, on which she immortalizes simple, clean designs with a modern flavor to “talk” about her lake and her city.
There are 15 subjects that are part of her history and evoke a sense of belonging to her.
The top list of favorites among customers is this: the Lucia, the seaplane and the boat.
Both tourists and locals find the essence of the lake in those designs. And she is proud of them!
But if you want to put her artistic streak to the test, don’t hesitate! She also does custom and on-demand drawings and is just waiting for the chance to express her creativity and her irrepressible desire to hold a pencil in her hands and sketch on a blank sheet of paper a new idea, a new image and a new drawing.
The enthusiasm is there and it is a lot, and the ideas running through her head are contagious!
One example among all is her participation in the I Lake it project, for which she created a T-shirt giving her personal interpretation of the lake.
Look for it among the 10 on display, it is brilliant and witty! Beautiful to wear!
But there is always plenty of news and new proposals from this young creative and in step with the needs and tastes of her customers.
